Good morning Doss Families -
We had a fabulous Friday! We held our first all school assembly led by our student leaders spotlighting our SEL word of the month, RESPECT, with a video from a special guest, Ms. Mydra and our Doss multicultural choir students presented their two songs they sang at the state capital. To add to the joy, the Anderson HS football players were guest readers in our 1st grade classrooms. Those young men are incredible role models for our students. The football players will return in the spring semester to continue their community outreach.
Anderson HS is celebrating their homecoming with a parade on Oct. 23rd. The Doss staff would like to participate in the parade by entering a Doss teacher float. But we need your help, we are looking for a flatbed trailer to borrow. If you have a trailer we can use for the parade, please reach out to me at tracy.sheridan@austinisd.org. Thanks.
If your child is in need of vaccinations, AISD is hosting vaccine clinics to those that qualify. HERE is the flyer with more details.
Another dismissal reminder, through traffic is not allowed on Northledge Dr. during dismissal time. We are asking for your cooperation to help with the traffic jam that occurs at Northledge Dr. and Far West Blvd during dismissal. Remember, the crossing guard only manages people so they will not assist with car traffic and as we all know Far West is a main thoroughfare in our neighborhood.
Everyone is invited to Day of Dance on Saturday, Oct. 5 at the PAC. This FREE, all-day, family-friendly event brings together diverse communities and dance styles, celebrating our shared language of movement through performances, workshops & classes, photographers, and more.
Have a great week -
Principal Sheridan
