Good morning Doss Families -
What an incredible week! It was truly heartwarming to see everyone come together to share a Thanksgiving meal, celebrate our diverse cultures, honor our veterans, and support Doss health by running the Doss Turkey Trot. I’m filled with gratitude for our dedicated staff, students, and the entire community. A special thank you to the volunteers who helped make the Book Fair a success and played a key role in facilitating the outstanding Cultural Heritage Event. Your contributions made this week unforgettable!
Have you heard about the Doss Science Fair? The Doss Science Fair is January 15, 2025 and it is a cool way for students to learn about the Scientific Method. Doss Science Fair information is found HERE.
Gentle reminder - Human Sexuality and Responsibility opt-in/opt-out forms are due November 20th (except 5th grade). If you would like to see the lessons, you may access them on the AISD website. https://www.austinisd.org/pe-health/health-education. If you have questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
With many Austin ISD students living in food-insecure households, accessing healthy food may be challenging when the district is closed. Families can use the community resources below to find free meals in their area while Austin ISD offices and schools are closed for the fall break:
- Central Texas Food Bank (www.centraltexasfoodbank.org)
- United Way for Greater Austin - ConnectATX (www.connectatx.org)
- Texas Health and Human Services - Call 2-1-1 or (877) 541-7905 to speak to a live operator.
Have a wonderful week -
Principal Sheridan
