Good morning Doss Families -
We enjoyed visiting with the families who joined us for the Parent Principal Coffee last Friday where the counselors highlighted their roles on campus and they shared the Gifted & Talented referral process. If you were not able to attend, HERE is a link to counselor roles and HERE is the link to the GT referral process.
During the PPC, we mentioned Doss Elementary is excited to host its first Spelling Bee in recent memory! This opportunity is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students. Last week, teachers received study lists for their grade level. In October, each class in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will select a classroom champion to compete in a school-wide Bee on December 10th. More information is coming soon.
Currently, Austin ISD is focusing on school consolidations and boundary changes to be implemented the 2026-2027 school year. Over the past few months the district has hosted community meetings to share the process including the board priorities and tools used to evaluate our schools. There is one last Community Conversation on School Consolidations and Boundaries Monday, September 15 at 6pm - 8pm. ZOOM LINK
In addition to the community conversation around school consolidations, Shalom Austin is hosting a Town Hall with AISD Superintendent Matias Segura Monday, September 15 at 5:30pm - 7pm. This Town Hall is part of our new Public Affairs Parent Engagement series in partnership with IAC Austin and ADL Austin and is an opportunity for Jewish families, students, educators, and all Doss community members to:
