Principal Newsletter Week: 08/20-08/23

Good morning Doss Families -

T-minus 2 days until the 1st day of school and we, the teachers and staff, are ready!

Welcome back Doss Elementary students and families! With such a supportive community, I’m sure this year will be filled with engaging lessons, new friendships, and memorable moments. If there’s anything you need or if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to the staff or the PTA—they’re there to help make the year as successful and enjoyable as possible. This year at Doss Elementary, we are “Going for Gold!”

The first day of school, we will allow you to walk your students to their classrooms. This begins at 7:30am and the tardy bell rings at 7:40am. If you arrive prior to 7:30am we will ask you to wait in the cafeteria until 7:30am. We are very aware that parking around campus is challenging but please do NOT park in the numbered parking spots. We have a large staff and the numbered spots are reserved for them.

The important things:

  1. School starts at 7:40 - students in the classroom an ready to learn
  2. Send a healthy snack and refillable water bottle with your student
  3. School dismissal is 3:10pm.  PATIENCE is the name of the game especially during the first week or two of school as we fine tune.
  4. NEW DISMISSAL PLAN (Big changes are listed below)
    1. No one will drive down Northledge Dr during dismissal time (3-3:20pm)
    2. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade carline is in the back of the building
    3. Right turn ONLY from the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade carline
    4. 2nd grade carline is at the front of the building.
    5. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th walkers, bikers, and walk up parents will be in the flagpole and bike rack area.
  5. How will your students get home from school? Please notify your teacher and your student.
  6. Get connected with your teacher’s weekly updates. Not sure how? Ask them or check the Wednesday folder for more info.
  7. We do not allow lunch visitors the first few weeks of school.

Have a great week -
