Good morning Doss Families -
Last Thursday, we joyfully welcomed our staff back to campus! We kicked things off with a Capturing Kids’ Hearts refresher professional development and, on Friday, joined together to volunteer at the Central Texas Food Bank. In between those events, our dedicated staff worked tirelessly in their classrooms, eagerly preparing for our students’ arrival. The joy and positive energy on campus are truly contagious! This week, we’ll keep the momentum going with professional development, team meetings, and lesson planning as we gear up for an amazing school year.
Due to growing class sizes, we are excited to welcome a new addition to our staff - Elizabeth Clements! She will be joining our first-grade team, and we’re thrilled to have her on board.
Thank you Doss community for your support of the flood victims and local Austin ISD school affected by this natural disaster. Doss collected and donated $614 to TEXSAR (Texas Search and Rescue). Attached are pictures of the banners.

AISD recommends families whose students are eligible for General Education transportation to check their bus information by checking the district’s “Bus Stop Finder”. Families whose students have special needs will receive their information from their bus teams. Please keep in mind that routes and stops may change periodically. AISD’s transportation team offers families the “WheresTheBus” app, which provides timely information about the location of their student’s assigned bus only, including when it will arrive at their stop. The free app is available on any device with internet access (smartphone, tablet, personal computer, iPad)—and takes less than five minutes to install. Instructions are available at https://www.austinisd.org/transportation.
Be on the lookout for updates about statewide policy regarding personal communication devices during school hours. Under the new policy, students will not be allowed to use devices during school hours (from bell to bell), and we will encourage students to leave their devices at home. Devices brought to school must be silent and out of sight - Away for the Day! For more information, visit bit.ly/DeviceNews2025.
This is nothing new for Doss because we already have a policy regarding smartphones and smartwatches. They must stay in the student’s backpack and be turned off during the school day.
Have a wonderful week -
Principal Sheridan
